This guide sets up WorldIPTV on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV (tvOS) and Apple silicon Macs, which can run the iPad apps. Everything installs from the App Store, so there is no sideloading; expect to be watching within 5 to 10 minutes. You need your WorldIPTV credentials: the Xtream server URL, username and password (or the M3U link) from your welcome email, or from the 24-hour free trial, which is delivered instantly with no card required.

Before you start

  • Bandwidth: 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K. On mobile data, set the app to HD to avoid burning through your allowance.
  • Connection: 5 GHz Wi-Fi on iPhone and iPad, Ethernet on Apple TV 4K (the Wi-Fi model still benefits from a strong 5 GHz signal).
  • Credentials: Xtream server URL with port, username and password. M3U works too; both are on the playlists page.
  • System: iOS/iPadOS 15 or newer, tvOS 15 or newer. Update in Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Apple ID: signed in to the App Store on each device.

Method 1: IPTV Smarters Pro

IPTV Smarters Pro is free on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, supports Xtream Codes and M3U, and includes catch-up, VOD and an EPG. It is the fastest way to get started. On the App Store it may appear under the name IPTV Smarters Player or Smarters Player Lite; both are from the same developer.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the App Store, search IPTV Smarters and tap Get, then confirm with Face ID or Touch ID.
  2. Open the app and accept the terms.
  3. Tap Add User, then Login with Xtream Codes API.
  4. Enter Any name (e.g. WorldIPTV), Username, Password and http://server-url (paste the server URL exactly, including the port).
  5. Tap Add User. Live TV, Movies and Series load in a few seconds.
  6. Optional: tap Settings > Player Settings and enable Picture-in-Picture.

Apple TV

  1. Open the App Store on Apple TV, search IPTV Smarters and select Get.
  2. Open the app and select Add User > Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Typing on Apple TV is slow, so use the iPhone keyboard: when a text field is selected, a notification appears on your iPhone; tap it to type the URL and password from your phone. Alternatively, if the app shows a Login with QR option, open Smarters on your iPhone, go to Settings > Share login via QR, and scan the code with the Apple TV camera prompt.
  4. Select Add User. Channels load and appear in the Live TV section.

M3U alternative: choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL, enter a name, choose URL, paste the M3U link and confirm.

Method 2: GSE Smart IPTV

GSE Smart IPTV is a free, mature player with Xtream and M3U support, an EPG viewer, Chromecast and AirPlay output, and parental controls. It is a good second app if you want a different interface.

  1. Install GSE SMART IPTV from the App Store on iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open the app and tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top left.
  3. Select Xtream-Codes API, then tap the + icon.
  4. Enter Any name (WorldIPTV), Server (your Xtream URL with port), Username and Password, then tap Add.
  5. Tap the new entry to load the playlist. Channels are grouped by country and category.
  6. For M3U, choose Remote Playlists in the menu instead, tap +, select Add M3U URL, paste the link and save.

Method 3: iPlayTV

iPlayTV is a paid Apple TV app with a native tvOS interface, a proper channel grid, picture-in-picture and Siri Remote gestures. It is the most comfortable app for living-room use on Apple TV.

  1. On Apple TV, open the App Store, search iPlayTV and buy it.
  2. Open it and select Add Playlist.
  3. Choose Xtream Codes (or M3U URL if you prefer the playlist link).
  4. Enter Server URL, Username and Password. Use the iPhone keyboard prompt to avoid typing errors.
  5. Give the playlist a name and select Save. iPlayTV loads channels and builds the guide.
  6. Long-press the touch surface on a channel to add it to favourites.

Method 4: Flex IPTV

Flex IPTV is a free, lightweight M3U player for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with a clean guide view.

  1. Install Flex IPTV from the App Store.
  2. Open the app, tap the + icon and choose Add Playlist.
  3. Enter a name and paste your M3U link in the URL field, then tap Save.
  4. Tap the playlist to load channels. Under Settings > EPG, paste the XMLTV EPG URL from your playlists page.
  5. On Apple TV, sign in to the same iCloud account: Flex syncs the playlist automatically between devices.

Add the EPG (TV guide)

With Xtream Codes, WorldIPTV includes the EPG automatically. In IPTV Smarters Pro, tap Settings > EPG Settings, make sure EPG is enabled, then tap Install EPG (or the Refresh EPG icon on the home screen). Adjust Time shift if the programme times are off by a fixed number of hours. In GSE Smart IPTV, open the menu, tap EPG, then the + icon, and add the XMLTV URL; toggle EPG on in the player view. In iPlayTV, the EPG loads with the Xtream login; use Settings > Refresh EPG to update.

Tips for the best quality

  • Enable the hardware decoder in Smarters (Settings > Player Settings) and GSE (Settings > Player). Software decoding drains the battery fast.
  • Use Ethernet on Apple TV 4K and 5 GHz Wi-Fi on iPhone and iPad; the 2.4 GHz band buffers.
  • Choose 4K streams only on Apple TV 4K connected to a 4K TV. On iPhone and iPad, FHD looks identical and uses less data.
  • AirPlay from iPhone to Apple TV works, but a native Apple TV app is smoother and avoids double decoding.
  • Turn off Low Data Mode in Wi-Fi and mobile settings; it throttles video streams.
  • Keep apps updated; the App Store versions are refreshed regularly. See our overview of the best IPTV apps for iPhone and iPad.
